I am.....

.............seriously contemplating the end of my blogging session(s). I know I could easily stop blogging totally, but then at the back of my mind, I know that it still exists, and I will have the urge to write. Instead, I am thinking of taking the rather harsh way, of closing Viva la Vida for good.I've been thinking of it for a long time now, but haven't been able to arrive at a decision and then one time, my friend Pop, convinced me not to, so I waited. Now, I think I should, I feel sad to come to this conclusion, but I guess it's time now. I have so many memories and moments associated with this blog, I have a heavy heart.
Please let me know what you think.
Yes, maybe or no?

btw, I am not a drama-queen!

This morning I was thinking if those girls that met with the unfortunate in
Mangalore....will they ever lead a normal life,
will they ever be able to go to a pub yet again! Such a shame, I feel
sad to be a part of all that,  makes me wonder is
India really a secular country as we Indian's pledge?
And who the EFF is this Ram Sena, gosh I think Bhagwaan Ram

If you can....

....and have the courage to read this only then do so, this is the most disturbing piece of news........why do these negative elements always target the helpless?

Let me tell you a secret....

...shhhhh......don't let it out or we'll be in trouble!!!
Around 1000 posts on my reader, gosh I didn't have the patience to go through them, I was so spooked. I had 2 options.....
Option #1: to actually read all of them
Option #2: "Mark all as Read"

hehehe......well, I took the easy way out and well, you might've guessed by now what was my preference. I feel so relieved, or do I feel guilty? Hmm, now don't you go rolling your eyes making it worse for me, anyways, it doesn't matter.

Whatevs, I now am reading free. Btw, where is that book I ordered, it's been a week and hasn't arrived yet, hmph, time to check order status. I am soooo waiting for it, especially since I am done reading Love Story by Eric Segal. This is one book (oh wait the other is The Great Gatsby by Scott F. Fitzgerald, so that makes it 2)...ok I stand corrected, these are the 2 books that have been sittting in my bookshelf for so long and I was pretending they don't exist, for the simple reason that they are classics and love stories and are based in the 40' s - 60's and you know what the result of it would be.......sad ending and that would leave me sobbing to eternity. But, I finally did take up reading LS for the simple reason that I resolved, not to buy any more books until I am done with those that I already own. I cheated a bit, I admit, I read the ending before I even began(which is sooo not like me, coz I like the plot to develop at my own pace! somehow this book had me turning to the last page initially....YAWN!!). I knew the outcome, I knew she would die (oops sorry for those of you who haven't yet read it, spoiler) and I knew I wouldn't like it. To be classified as a classic, I don't quite agree. I thought the story was a-ok, the plot doesn't really showcase their love and at one point I was really doubtful if they were really in love! I wish that there was a little more verbage on their affection towards each other. The only thing that stood out for me was the hero of the book abusing and hating his father, maybe the title shud've been "Hate Story". So my review.....ehh 2 1/2 out of 5. I loved the cover of the book though.

Now, I wonder when will the 'The Great Gatsby' be read.......I might though, last night I did bring back 2 books from the shelf, one among them is the above mentioned and the other is 'A Painted House' by John Grisham. I don't even remember buying the Grisham book, but nevertheless, it's been long since I read any of his lit., and I am excited about it too. My fave book collection is when my Mr. gifted me the entire Calvin and Hobbes Collector's edition. and the best part, it was a surprise!!! I don't think I was ever so happy on receiving a surprise gift, now he knows the perfect gifts for me come in the form of books and shoes.....and o yeah, chocolates, diamonds, flowers, wine, gadgets, rubies and all other gems, designer wear,  kitchen tools, and the list goes on .................( kya kare, the best things in life come in such lucrative packages)

Btw, I am so possessive and protective about my books and movies that I hate sharing and lending with anyone, even if I trust that person enough to take care of my books, I wont lend it. That's how much I love my books. Well, I did have some experiences in the past where I had to let go of some of my collection and that made me immensely dukhi, every book and every movie I have, comes with a tag of memories and stories and if that is lost, I lose those memories too. Hence, I am what I am. I am still old-fashioned when it comes to books, I still am not able to buy the concept of the Kindle, even though it's sleek, trendy, fast and savvy. Oh and did I tell you, my master took after me, when it comes to reading, the little guy loves his books and loves reading too, sometimes both of us take a book, plop ourselves onto the couch and read away to glory for atleast an hour at a stretch.

Wow, this turned out to be quite a long post, when all I wanted to really put forth was a little tiny secret, whew....good luck reading and if you are reading the entire thing then good job.

If from.....

1950 - 1959 were called the 50's
1960 - 1969 were called the 60's
1970 - 1979 were called the 70's
1980 - 1989 were called the 80's
1990 - 1999 were called the 90's oh yeah you get the idea (and feel free to add before the 50's too)...now back to the issue......
what would 2000 and beyond be called? the 00's.....?
If  1900(century wise) was called the 1900's(read nineteen hundred's), would 2000(century wise) be called the 2000's (read two thousand's)............somehow it doesn't sound right to me! You have any suggestions? or maybe I'm retarded...again!

Why do I use so many dots(..........) and exclamations (!) and question marks(?) ????!!!!!
Note to self: stop using so much punctuation.

Wondering what......

Masakalli means???

Exploring NYC with Google.

If you are one of those people that seem to get lost in the vastness of New York City, whether you are a resident or a visitor, then this is totally for you.
http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2009/01/explore-new-york-city-with-google-from.html
make sure u see the video at the end, includes instructions to view from your cell phone too.

Am sure, even New Yorkers would find that immensely helpful, considering there is so much to see and do in the big Apple.

Hits, misses and everything in between and beyond

I've been wanting to write this post for quite a bit now, I've composed a list of Bollywood movies that were realeased in 2008 and my short review on the ones that I've seen. I've also listed the movie names that are on my must-see list. It's only fair that I do this list to show my undying love for Bollywood. Let's start with the not-upto-the mark category. Oh and mind you these are strictly main stream Bollywood movies

Lousy:
De Taali (ugh, not much to say, it's bad bad bad)
EMI (first I thought it was ok, then it went downhill, Sanjay Dutt is become so boring always the gangster)
God Tussi Great Ho (ewwww)
Hello ( double ewwww)
Kismat Konnection (ugh, boring...ding dong...same story, vidya get a decent wardrobe, Shahid pls stop doing films that dont do justice to your talent, same goes to Vidya too)
Mere Baap Pehle Aap (what was the director even thinking?? Why the F was Akshaye Khanna shouting all through? Genelia I always loved you, but not in this one, sorry babe)
Money Hain to Honey Hain (same ewwwww)
Sarkar Raj ( if someone showed the faces more clearly, instead of zooming inside their noses, maybe it wudve been watchable)
Singh is King (ugh,  just noisy, no brainer, no nothing, not even sure why this movie was made)
Sorry Bhai (WTF)
Yuvvraaj (hello, Subhash Ghai wake up, we are past those kind of movies, they are sooo 80's, different locales, same story)

Passable:
Bachna Ae Haseeno (definitely for hottie Ranbir and the locales, music and ofcourse the babes)
Dostana (tooo oriented which was so not required, but decent take on addressing the gay issue with added bits of humor)
Fashion (different and refreshing, but leaves you so depressed)
Jodha Akbar (ok 1 time is more than enough, splendid outfits, jewelry, acting, screenplay and everything else, but i wont watch it again, not even for junior Roshan)
Krazzy 4 (Nice, zara hatke and humorous and with superb acting from all 4)
My Name is Anthony Gonsalves (new comer, impressed, and very B grade story, but good change)
Oye Lucky Lucky Oye (didn't understand anything, but since I liked Abhay Deol so much, I thought this movie must be in watchable)
Race (yeah, my head was spinning after all the twists and turns)
Thoda pyaar thoda magic (cute, romantic, and childish for a dead brain moment)

Impressed:
Golmaal returns (oh, i was rofl watching this one, total comedy, total entertainment, total bakwaas )
Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (need i say more!)
Jannat (always....for Emraan Hashmi movies, different from the norm and totally engrossing)
Rab ne Bana Di Jodi (definitely for SRK, potraying the simple guy)
Rock On ( again, the box office and critics have said it all)
Saas Bahu Aur Sensex (different, current situation, and cute)
Slumdog Millionaire (Golden Globes are not enough?)
Ugly Aur Pagli (if you didn't know Mallika can even act apart from undressing, watch this)
Welcome to Sajjanpur (simple, sweet, addressed a lot of social issues without them taking entire focus, surprise ending)

Yet to Watch:
A Wednesday
Aamir
CC2C
Dasvidaniya
Dev D
Dil Kabaddi
Karz
Khalbali

Next......on Bollywood music.

One interesting question

- Joe sworn in as VP of USA at 11:something a.m.
- George's presidency ended at 12 pm on Jan 20th
- Barack is sworn in as Prez at 12:05 p.m. on Jan 20th

so my question is, for those in between 5 minutes from 12:00 to 12:05 was Joe the Prez? So, technically is O the 45th Prez? That would mean the same for all the other previous Prez's too?

If you know the technicalities please enlighten me!

P.S. : Just to avoid search traffic, I've got the first names and some abbr.

Of politics and Obama

Oh, I don't know much on politics, and politicians and how a country runs and the complexities and intricacies involved in the administration of a nation, however what I do know is that the 44th Prez of the U of A is one helluva orator. His inaug speech was simply mind-blowing. I wonder how does he write up so many stirring speeches. Yes, his speech was harsh, real and full of emotion and promises. Promises, that don't sound too dubious for me, but instead they sound doable, maybe because that is the way he put forward his point.
"...and why a man whose father less than sixty years ago might not have been served at a local restaurant can now stand before you to take a most sacred oath."....yes very subtle, yet very true!
Looking forward to the next 4 years and I hope all goes well for him. I pray for him and his family. Oh, and the way Michelle was looking at her husband when he was taking the oath.....ah tch tch...my eyes misted just looking at her! So much for being in love, that she exudes her love for him! And, I loved her outfit, it was so perfect and so classy, couldn't have chosen better.
For the rest of the speech go here.
Wikipedia has already updated his page to current Pres. He was sworn in just a few minutes ago. Technology.....amazing....people behind the technology....even more amazing!

Today.....

....my status message reads............."Awww....no more Bush jokes?"
Says a lot, don't it?

Just for kicks......

......I have got the 'Disclaimer' on my previous post in the smallest font available. :)
Ever wonder why they do that? Who came up with that concept anyways?
Maybe some lawyers and marketing people, for sure, sitting in their ultra cool office, the lawyers thought process goes "we better add the disclaimer else we might fall into trouble", the marketing guys reply, "but, it better be inconspicuous and in fine print, else we might negate the purpose of advertising".
Hah, such a world ours is, I don't understand it.

I think I'm retarded, talking nonsense. I have to get back to being myself soon, I havent been handling stress very well, over the past couple of weeks, I caved in. I allowed myself to be ruled by something I've always wanted to avoid (by avoid I mean handling the situations in a better way and not running away from it)....the something being turmoil in relations, long distance ones. I am no more giving in to any of this, especially, when it's not really worth it. I need me hubs...he is the only one who can make me feel better!

See the variation of thoughts in this post........from disclaimers to diagnosis! What more evidence do we need on my mentalness. :) To put it right, I'm not in my element.
Oh, I'm sane alright, not that mental....YET!
Have a great weekend y'all...will cya next week.

Btw, I've heard that AB's blog has inspired many people to start blogging! chalo atleast koi toh faayda hua AB ke blog ka. Now, I think RGV's blog would do the exact opposite....no offense. Either way, I enjoy reading both of them blogs, they are both very 'inspirational'. HEHEHE! I like reading what everyone has to say, it's wonderful what every single person thinks! Sometimes, I get so involved, that I start neglecting my own blog. I'll try my best to keep posting though. Happy Blogging!

P.S.: This post is totally unedited and I didn't even proof read it for spellings, grammar etc. Its raw!

All in good humor to brighten up your day!

Why we Indians can’t be terrorists ?
1. We are always late, we would have missed all 4 flights.
2. We would talk loudly and bring attention to ourselves.
3. With free food & drinks on the plane, we would forget why we’re there
4. We talk with our hands; therefore we would have to put our weapons down.
5. We would all want to fly the plane.
6. We would argue and start a fight in the plane.
7. We can’t keep a secret, we would have told everyone a week before doing it.
8. We would have put our country’s flag on the windshield.
9. We would have postponed the mission because a cricket match was going on that day
10. We would all have fallen over each other to be in the photograph being taken with one of the hostages

Again, I take it as a compliment, so before y'all start protesting and all.....I hope you woke up on the funny side of the bed:)

4 of the best revelations w.r.t cell phone

The content below was forwarded to me by a friend and I thought I have to have it on my blog. Thank you friend for sending this to me, now I can share it with the world, with your permission though. I am still amazed at thing #2.

Things_You_Probably_Never_Knew_Your_Mobile_Phone_Could_Do:
There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies. Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for survival. Check out the things that you can do with it:

1. Emergency
The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112. If you find yourself out of the coverage area of your mobile; network and there is an emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked.

2. Have you locked your keys in the car?
Does your car have remote keyless entry? This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their mobile phone from your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other 'remote' for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk).
Editor's Note: It works fine! We tried it out and it unlocked our car over a mobile phone!'

3. Hidden battery power
Imagine your mobile battery is very low. To activate, press the keys *3370# Your mobile will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your mobile next time.

4. How to disable a stolen mobile phone?
To check your mobile phone's serial number, key in the following digits on your phone!: * # 0 6 #,
a 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. When your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You probably won't get your phone back, but atleast you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.

Be safe, be alert and be savvy. :)

Quote Unquote

Ain't it weird, to post something like "The less you talk, the more you are heard" quote on a blog, which is a medium for expression?

I wonder what would happen if poiliticians followed that quote right to the d!! Hmm, would we really start hearing them out? Hah, makes you think, "who says they are not being heard right now? otherwise how would they even come to power?" RIGHT?

Well, one thing that's right is, the leaders will not follow the quote and the people will not stop following them.
Ah, just some thoughts from me!

Busy bee?....no more!

Save the bees....we need them for everything, from pollination to honey and whole lot more! One of the main causes for the dwindling number of bees, is the use of fertilizers and chemicals on plants. Have you ever thought, if those chemicals could do that to the bees, imagine what they might do to us? Well, if you say that bees are tiny and fragile etc etc when compared to humans, well, let me add, small amounts add upto a large bulk, slowly but steadily. Let's try our best to buy organic produce, the more we consume, the more they grow and hence the cost sees a downgrade.

Have you see the Bee Movie, by Seinfeld? It's a super cool movie and conveys the message right across.......ah if only it was possible to better it that way though. Entertainment with a social conscience I say.
We have such important issues to tackle, I do hope that the anti-social elements realise this and contribute towards saving our planet rather than destroying it, much to the extent that it would be impossible to live let alone kill.
