Fashion..nono not the movie..this is real

Among all the designers for the WLIFW, my vote goes to Rajesh Pratap Singh. His clothes are so enigmatic and they are definitely wearable on a regular day without getting any odd glances. Maybe it is my slight inclination towards darker colors....esp. blacks and grays. Whatever it is, works for me.

Manish Malhotra is just sticking to his regular style, like out of a Yash Raj movie. No doubt, he can make anyone look flawlessly beautiful, but c'mon we need some change. I think his clothes looked like a cross between Paris and Bollywood. :)  Aw...c'mon you know my Bollywood addiction!

Nayanika Chatterjee is still modelling? Man, yeh tho too much ho gaya! I thought she retired....that shows how away I am from the desi fashion scene. I think I'm retired. :)

So whose designs do you think would work for you? I would love to hear!

Microsoft Magic........

So, I was reading this blog today, and I did find out the answers to some questions. Well, the questions are not mine, wait....... let me state my ignorance by adding that I didn't even know such questions existed until I visited Ashwin's blog. I'll let him do the answering and explaining.... Ashwin, I hope you don't mind me linking to your blog.

Also, being the smart guy he is has pointed out to me that Feb and March do always have the same days and dates as long as there is no 29 in Feb. Read more about it here.

I hope you enjoy all the reading......and I will be back with a really amusing post.

I'm loving the Satyapaul creations from this season's Wills India Fashion Week.
As always, Satyapaul excels his work. I'm a huge fan!

Open invitation to all

Here's a task for you:
I've been wanting to write/blog so much, but I'm running out of topics and time. So, I am opening my blog to all of you. I would request anyone to guest blog for me, email me to let me know if you are interested. Anyone can participate in it, just holler and I'm right there.
What is guest blogging ? Well, you i.e. my readers, can volunteer to blog on any topic/issue on my domain. For those of you who are tired of your blog or if you feel the need to explore your composition skills or if you want to think out loud, this is your chance. So email me if you are interested and I will put up your post.
Start thinking y'all!

The reason being....

I realised why I was in the line of annoyance yesterday. It was not because of some question being thrown at me, but the way it was delivered. If you want to know something about someone, ask politely, not like as if you are passing an insensitive, rude remark. Trust me, I have no issues with that, but if anyone talks to me in that sarcastic tone, I am not one to take it. I don't do that, whatever it is I put that forward directly. That takes the pressure from all relations, don't you think.

Anyhoo, now that we got that out of our way, back to being me.
More updates later, until then adios!

I like being me

Annie, is totally annoyed with a few individuals..............the reason you ask eh?
Let's take this scenario.............you are having a decent, general conversation with a few people and then the talk ends, everyone parts ways but the remnants of the topic at hand still exist somewhere and one person decides to ask you a few more questions (hoping to prolong the talk, probably), eventually your nationality and "oh that's not how it's done in your country?" question pops up. Helllo? did I even mention anything about the country I am from? Or did I ever mention what way what is done? we were just having a normal conversation for Chrissakes. Can't I have even one conversation where I am not being veered towards the nationality direction? But, what's of notice here, the person who got me annoyed on such a beautiful day is himself not a citizen of this country where he lives......now where does that leave him? I never talk to people based on which country or religion they belong to...............heck we are all the same, born geographically in different places, but hello, now we share the same land. So can't we just talk about the common stuff?
Ugh, so irritated, I can't tell you. I don't know why am I doing this on my blog, this space is for me, not for some idiot's reactions. What irritates me most is, the fact that these people act like they are the 'know it all' kind of people, when the fact is, they no nothing, they are filled of s**t. Like they say, "Aadha sach, jhoot se bhi zyaada khatarnaak hain" translation -> "Half knowledge is more dangerous than lies". Apt for today's episode.

Dear Blog,
Please don't mind that you are the recipient of my reactions today. I had to get it out and I wanted to make it known, and the best way is through you. Please bear with me.
Your faithful blogger,
Annie

And to think, my horoscope for today says:
You need self-discipline today -- and you've got plenty! You may just need to keep your big mouth shut as the folks around you make fools of themselves or you may need to avoid a mighty temptation.

Yes, I think I did follow that, although it wasn't intentional, nevertheless, I did keep my mouth shut and let the others look foolish! Yup, something to be happy about atleast!
I want to give that person a good shout and a content lecture, God, please don't let me do it! I wish for that person to be gone for the rest of the day! poof

Phonetically speaking

A word that keeps bothering me or rather throwing me into an eternal state of complexity - ESCAPE!
Why.....? you ask?
Well, here's the explanation.....brace yourselves, coz here it comes....
When I'm driving, or whatever the hell I'm doing, I have a rather weird habit of adding up the  numbers I see or forming words from the words that are in my visibility range. I do the math like it's nobody business and I play a game of word twist in my mind at the speed of lightning......haha alright, at your request no more bragging(aww.....such a spoiler!).
Anyhoodle....now let's sum up both the points....Driving + weird habit: Do you get it now?
No? yeah well........didn't think so......you need to have brains like mine to interpret my words, which clearly is lacking in your ability. Hey Bhagwaan, here I go taking a detour again!
Okok, before you guys beat me up (hehe, which is highly impossible, coz you can't)......
Driving = looking at car make, model, number/name plate
Weird Habit = adding and twisting words.
So that led to a vehicle which was ahead of me in a single lane road and I had no choice but to follow it(ah, so much despair!). In the meanwhile, being in the weird habit that I have, I started exploring the vehicle and my sight fell on it's model.
Do you get it atleast now? Huh..........God! Y O Y????
So, I keep driving and  kept thinking what in the world is that car. I know it's a FORD, but I cannot figure out the model....still pondering. Reached home, still pondering.......kept doing my chores, still pondering. Then I forgot.
Again, next day, started pondering again (can anyone suggest any other word, for pondering? it's getting on my nerves now!)
This went on for a day or 2 I don't quite remember. Ultimately, it hit me, just like how Newton was hit by the falling apple (*giggles*, yup me is comparing moi to Newton.......grĂȘle newton!)(thanks to Google translator, I would've never known how to say Hail Newton! in French)
That word E-S-C-A-P-E meant ESCAPE and not ES-CAPE (read...ess-kah-pay)..........Whew *wiping forehead*
Man, that was like solving one of the mysteries of the universe!
Well, being the smart being that I am, the same thing happened to me again, but this time, it took me just a few minutes to realise my linguistic skills are not exactly that bad!

If only........

I took a quiz, that tells me what city I should live in. Well, and the answer is......

...Paris! Wow, I sure would move to Paris right now! Who wouldn't want to live in the most romantic city in the world? Sigh.....dreams! I think I am a dreamy girl. Visiting Paris is one thing, but actually living there.....woo hoo! {Do you hear some squealing and howling? ahem.  I wonder where is it coming from?!!}
Anyhoodle, it's a Friday and its almost 4 in the p.m. and I can't wait to go home and continue my gardening project.

My head is humming!

Has it ever happened to you..........you keep humming a certain song or poem or whatever all day and you just can't seem to get it off your head? Well, that's what's happening to me since morning. Every morn, on PBS we watch Arthur and Friends, and the title song is whatz on my my mind. It's meant for kids, but I believe it applies to us bigger kids too.......I think of this song as a stress buster and also a reminder of who I am. I've loved it always. Here are the lyrics for you....read on and if it's available on You Tube check it out, or better yet, PBS to the rescue!

Everday when you're walking down the street, everybody that you meet has an original point of view.
And I say Hey, what a wonderful kind of day, if we could learn to work and play and get along with each other.
You gotta listen to your heart, listen to the beat.
Listen to the rhythm, the rhythm of the street.
Open up your eyes, open up your ears.
Get together and make things better by working together.
It's a simple lesson and it comes from the heart.
Believe in yourself for that's the place to start.
And I say Hey, what a wonderful kind of day, if we could learn to work and play and get along with each other.
Hey, what a wonderful kind of day. Hey! What a wonderful kind of day! Hey!

Have a great day!

You gotta check out the Lingo Kid, the real slum kid!

An Ode and a Salaam!

Over the weekend, we were in Disneyland(ok, I mean really!!). We were all so excited to be meeting up with Mickey Mouse and the rest of the gang, even my master was so eager all through he was like tickee bouse(o yes, that is how he addresses the most favorite mouse in the world!). So cute! So anyways, we were all geared up and all and mind you this was the first time me visiting Disneyland, so it was quite an experience for me and when I say that the rest of the theme parks are nowhere close to the experience at Disney, I mean it.......each and every word! It is like an entire city in itself, and the management and maintenance is just so unbelievable! Right from the parking lot attendants to the actual performers, I haven't seen a more disciplined and composed lot ever! And to top it off, the performers wowed me with their energy and zeal, patience and composure, and made a mental note to myself, learn Annie learn! In that heat, they delivered a show that was no less than a jam packed rock concert! And not even one aspect of it all went wrong(ok, I wasn't looking for any either). Annie is totally impressed!
A big round of applause to all the people working there and that includes the woman who collected our parking ticket to the men who directed us where to park and the one who reminded us where we were parked(Happy ,I think!) and to the balloon guy and the performers in the parade(Whew, don't you guys get exhausted ever?) and the numerous people who kept guiding people so that they can meet up with Mickey and Minnie Mouse and Pooh bear and Tigger, and the photographer who captures the moment when you do meet the characters, and the people who are dressed as them, and always being so enthusiastic about meeting every kind of person, coz afterall, the legendary characters reputation is dependent entirely on you. Also, to the security guards always trying to keep a check on everything around, the men and women behind the food stalls, and everyone else behind the incredible idea. Thank You for helping us make our happy memories and Thank You for keeping us safe and organized!

Don't be square, be root!

So yesterday was Square Root day right......you know.....3/3/09 . For those that still didn't get it......square root of 9 is 3, and the date and month is 3. This happens just 9 times in a century, and the next one coming up is 4/4/16.
Hmm, so for all of you that are really good with numbers, you bet you didn't see this one coming, now did you?

Adios and Happy Square Root Day to all, eat your root veggies!

The one flaw in women

Before I get started on the topic at hand, let me brief you on my time crunches....I had to take a moment today, just so that I can reach out to you people. I've been so immersed in work and at home, that I couldn't get to blog the last few days, so my due apologies. Although, I'm beginning to think that maybe I better stop apologising else, "SORRY" might soon become a word in my vocab, that doesn't really mean what it should've. I believe that when you talk, do it with a passion, so much so that your listener is totally enchanted, I don't know how much of that I actually implement.

FYI - The person who sent me this email, no offense to you, I'm just putting forward something that has been on my mind for a very long time now, and this email from you has made it a lot easier to launch my view. So, I plead you.....if you are reading this, don't take offense, it has nothing to do with you! Whew...now that I got that done, let's get to the point.

Going back to the issue, for starters, I got an email this morning, which made me go hmmmm......
This email is meant to remind us women what we are made of etc etc...BS..........I was like, "o Yeah, tell that to those hooligans calling themselves the 'Moral Police' , aka Shri Ram Sene". This is just irony at its best, I believe. I wish I had that Muthalik guy's email(wonder if he is allowed to use modern technology!!), I would surely forward it to him. My guess, he would hunt down all those people who have been forwarding this email and then think of someway to abuse them....imagine him doing that! ROFL!
Anyhoodle, I'll state my point of view first and then I'll showcase the contents of the email to you.
My first reaction on reading it was WTF? which world are we living in? Did someone hit a rewind button or something? I for one, am not that kind of a woman, I am a woman of today, I know what I want and I don't believe in slaving it out. I believe in equality of labor, love, and life, who says a woman is meant for just the assigned stuff, ofcourse we do that and a lot more too. But, if I'm angry, then the person (well, usually it's my hubs), sees the worst of me, when I'm sad, and happy like wise too.....but I'm not who will smile when I'm clearly so upset. I'm sure a lot of women I know are like me too, ofcourse there are still some girls, who are yet to come out of their cocoon, but in my gen, the word is, woman means power and equality. And I for one, am not willing to let go of it, coz I need to survive in this fast-paced world, just like any one else. So the content ends with the saying, "there is one flaw in women.....and it is they forget their worth". I went ballistic...............WHAT@$&*^^!#@ , haven't I said enough already?
Here, read it for yourself, and please tell me what you think about it. I might be wrong in someways, and I want to hear your opinion. Also, I would like to add, that in this day and age, even guys would agree with equality of men and women, don't you?

The One Flaw In Women

By the time the Lord  made woman,
He was into his sixth day of working overtime.
An angel  appeared and said,
'Why are you spending so much time on this one?'
And  the Lord answered, 'Have you seen my spec sheet on her?
She has to be  completely washable, but not plastic,
have over 200 movable parts, all  replaceable
and able to run on diet coke and leftovers,
have a lap that  can hold four children at one time,
have a kiss that t can cure anything from  a scraped knee to a broken heart-and she will do everything with only two  hands.'

The angel was astounded at the requirements.
'Only two  hands!? No way!
And that's just on the standard model?
That's too much  work for one day.
Wait until tomorrow to finish.'

'But I won't, '  the Lord protested.
'I am so close to finishing this creation that is so  close to my own heart.
She already heals herself when she is sick AND can work 18 hour days.'

The angel moved closer and touched  the woman.
'But you have made her so soft, Lord.'

'She is soft,' the  Lord agreed,
' but I have also made her tough.
You have no  idea what she can endure or accomplish.'

'Will she be able to think? ', asked the angel.

The Lord replied,
'Not only will  she be able to think,
she will be able to reason and  negotiate.'
The angel then noticed something,
and reaching  out, touched the woman's cheek.
'Oops, it looks like you have a leak in this  model.
I told you that you were trying to put too much into this one.'

'That's not a leak,' the Lord corrected,
' that's a  tear!'
'What's the tear for?' the angel asked.

The Lord said, 'The  tear is her way of expressing her joy,
her sorrow, her pain,  her disappointment, her love,
her loneliness, her grief  and her pride.'
The angel was impressed.
'You are a genius, Lord. You  thought of everything!
Woman is truly amazing.'

And she is!
Women have strengths that amaze men.
They bear hardships and they carry  burdens,
but they hold happiness, love and joy.
They smile  when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.
They cry when  they are happy
and laugh when they are nervous.
They  fight for what they believe in.
They stand up to injustice.
They don't take 'no' for an answer
when they  believe there is a better solution.
They go without so their  family can have.
They go to the doctor with a frightened  friend.
They love unconditionally.
They cry  when their children excel
and cheer when their friends get  awards.
They are happy when they hear about a birth or a  wedding.
Their hearts break when a friend dies.
They grieve at the loss of a family member,
yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left.
They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a broken heart.
Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors.
They'll drive, fly, walk, run or  e-mail you
to show how much they care about you.
The  heart of a woman is what makes the world keep turning.
They  bring joy, hope and love.
They have compassion and ideals.
They give moral support to their family and friends.
Women have vital things to say and everything to give

HOWEVER,  IF THERE IS ONE TINY FLAW IN WOMEN,

IT IS THAT THEY FORGET THEIR WORTH.

PLEASE pass this  along to your friends and relatives
to remind them just  how amazing they are.

Humor for the day

Writing's Powerful Message
There was once a young man who, in his youth, professed a desire to become a "great" writer.

When asked to define "great" he said "I want to write stuff that the whole world will read, stuff that people will react to on a truly emotional level, stuff that will make them scream, cry, wail, howl in pain, desperation, and anger!"

He now works for Microsoft writing error messages.
