Sad state of affairs.

Seeing 2 of the biggest financial institutions go down is one of the worst things to happen. Merrill-Lynch is a household name and I've always encountered that name since childhood. Lehman Bros. another titan in the industry, whew. Then there is Fannie and Freddie Mae.
Unemployment rate might rise, more companies would get affected and the world economy will be pathetic. DOW Jones lost 500 points and that is the lowest ever. Is this the worst recession or what? I hope AIG does a little better and doesn't follow LB. Yet to hear on that one. I hope the BofA acquisition of ML will bring about some fresh changes and hopes to the industry and economy in the long run. Definitely there will be some short-term setbacks.
And added to this, are the various weather treatments and the terrorist attacks! They definitely do affect the economy. Can't we just end atleast what's in our abilities?
