something and something else..

I wonder why is it that always Aamir Khan's films make it to the Oscar's! TZP isn't that great of a movie to make it all the way to H'wood! Methinks there are far better movies. Cheeni Kum(sweet, romantic and actors at their best), Namesake(I don't have enough words of praise for this one), Jab We Met(don't we all love this one).....well there are many more to consider. I have nothing against AK, he's simply brilliant but hello.....other filmmakers too address issues...logically!

Anyways, Google's 10 yr celebration is thru Project 10 to the 100th. If you have any mind-blowing ideas, please put them forward. This is a great way to put your idea to work, rather than just saying, I wish.....

Now a word about planet Earth
At Grist.org they have a saying about climate change: "A frog in water doesn't feel it boil in time. Dude, we are that frog."

You comparing TZP with Jab We Met, hope nothing is wrong with you. Jab We Met is normal Masala movie just to entertain ppl, and it is feel good movie nothing more than that. TZP, is amazing movie, with great acting from everyone in the movie. It stays in your heart for ever, with a strong message. Name sake is very good movie, but not a Oscar material, Cheeni Kum, just sweeet, be we need little sour too. But... Jab We Met...Duh!

Everyone has an individual point of view is all I have to say!
What exactly describes Oscar material according to you?

According to me: Oscar movies should have a STRONG story line with a very specific Message to it.
It should be part of the society in some way, rather than just entertaining. This year TZP has been unchallenged, thats my opinion. But... Jab We Met...Duh! :)

So you think ALL the Hollywood movies that are nominated at the Oscars have a "STRONG story line" with a very specific message?

I am talking about Best Foreign Film category, you can see the past nominees and decide if Jab We Met have any chance.
Why Jab We Met ? Duh! :)

JWM was a total entertainer, I agree to that, complete masala B'wod movie. It's sweet and cute and teaches us to always look at life in the positive way. Isn't that how he became successful etc...So in short the message I get from this movie, if not serious as TZP is that Be positive, think positive and considering the situations life throws at us in this age and day, I think that's a pretty neat outlook. Care to differ?

JWM, Junior college goers and high schoolers will love this film for the simplicity of its love story whereas the mature audience will look for something beyond that and will be a bit disappointed. I would prefer a movie which will disturb me a lot rather than a feel good movie. I have seen log of movies like JWM but none like TZP

Annie said...

Oh, did TZP disturb you?

I don't understand why you are fixated on JWM when I've mentioned other movies too! JWM personifies a true commercial Bollywood movie, that's all!

Exactly, JWM is just "true commercial Bollywood movie" and not Oscar worth. That's what I am trying to prove here, this is where it differs from TZP. And ofcourse TZP did disturb me, it made me to sympathize on the kid and it give me nice attitude towards life seeing how the kid was able to get back in to the normal world.

The essence of Bollywood is strong in movies like JWM, and that's what I am trying to put forth, why not represent the real B'wood movies instead of some experiment. Don't you think there are far better movies in H'wood that are related to the same dyslexia, autism issue? Why not showcase our strong points? I think we are beating around the bush here and going in circles. Cheeni Kum is also an absolute wonderful movie along with Namesake. They are far better than TZP. Probably if you read the book, Namesake, you will understand what I mean.
